Thank you, Bruce. Ralph extended a great kindness to me in 1985 which became the foundation of a deep friendship. The last times we met we were considering how AI might be altered - or rather, could it be altared - so that it had an ethical foundation no matter it’s other uses. As you might guess, we were not successful but it was our mutual concern and alarm. What a wild and beautiful mind with a heart to match has left us - or given the edges he crossed his entire life - has decided to do his sacred work from the other side.
From afar Ralph was a fierce icon, like a wizard belonging on a tarot card, as if to be laid on the table when an incantation required uncompromising discernment. How much more "coincidentia oppositorum" than "DMT maths" can one get, right!?
Thanks Dr. Bruce, for spreading this news. Ralph was a dazzling mind, in complex orbits with numerous luminaries like yourself. I was honored to shake his hand once, at Synergia Ranch near Santa Fe. His book "Chaos, Gaia, Eros" was itself a psychedelic-in-print.
Hey Bruce. Just wanted you to know I found the trialogue series on the salon about 20 years ago now. The first trialogue I heard was focused on the stoned ape theory — it was the most exciting thing I'd ever heard. Needless to say, I found what I was looking for. If I hadn't stumbled upon those recordings I doubt I'd be recognizable to myself today. So, to both you and Ralph, a heartfelt thank you...

I appreciated his book Chaos Gaia Eros. Did you know William Irwin Thompson? Such wisdom.
My condolensces.

Thanks for sharing this last encounter, Bruce.
Fierce icon! I love that characterization and it fits Ralph like a glove. Fiercely strong but gentle like fleece.
Chris, yes perhaps Ralph was a gateway and embodiment to the Mysterium Tremendum that Terence talked about

Jeffery, I totally agree about Ralph!
